Price per Unit: How to Compare Supermarket Multipacks

Use unit prices to compare different pack sizes fairly. When browsing UK retailers, a sensible shortlist and a quick comparison of the complete cost can make the decision easier.

Start with the right product for your needs

A large pack can appear cheaper while offering a worse price per 100 g, litre or item. Compare the same unit and consider whether the contents will be used before expiry.

Check the details before checkout

Factor in delivery charges, storage and product quality. A smaller pack may be better value for a small household even when the unit price is slightly higher.

Find a deal without compromising on fit

Before using a voucher code, confirm the exact model or size, any minimum spend, exclusions and delivery costs. Check whether the retailer allows the code on already reduced items. A headline discount is only helpful if the final basket meets your needs and budget. If two retailers sell comparable options, compare their full delivered totals and returns terms rather than the percentage displayed on the banner.
