Nine Oaks Chardonnay 2022, Kent

Family-run Nine Oaks in Kent is only four years old, but they are already punching above their weight. Winemaker Nick Blampied-Lane worked at Cloudy Bay in New Zealand and spent five years in Champagne with Moët & Chandon and Dom Pérignon. Here from three hectares of prime vineyard he creates small-batch, low-intervention wines that reflect the Kent landscape. The 2022 summer in England was ideal for ripening grapes to perfection, and the results show in this bottling, with aromas of green apple, pear, lemon, peach and a touch of oak from French barrels. With so much complexity and a wonderfully bright acidity, this wine will pair brilliantly with white meat, fish, risotto and cheese.
