LCW ‘Fox Tales’ Chardonnay 2022, South Eastern Australia

Limestone Coast Wines care as much about the environment as they do about making great wine. Founded in 1963, they’re both carbon neutral and sustainably certified. Under the direction of locally born winemaker Leisha Munro they are now turning out some seriously impressive bottlings. This example is a knock-out South Australian Chardonnay – hailing not from the sun-baked landscapes of the famous Barossa Valley but rather the underrated, cool-climate Limestone Coast. Here higher rainfall and lower temperatures produce wine of a whole different profile, with medium body and notes of peach, pineapple and vanilla. Its fresh acidity and good length will go well with many different dishes – particularly creamy pasta dishes, like Joe’s Open Goat’s Cheese Ravioli.
