Neal and Judy Ibbotson were the first people to plant vines in Marlborough. What they started then, Saint Clair, is now the most-awarded winery in the region. Today, head winemaker is the excellent Hamish Clark, who went to school with the couple’s three children. He continues with their pioneering attitude to Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. And it shows in each sip of this refreshing, zesty wine. It has flavours of tropical fruit, stone fruit, green apple and grass. Expect a fresh acidity that’s great at cutting through goat’s cheese.
