Saint Clair are one of oldest producers in New Zealand’s Marlborough region, with the first vines being planted there in 1978. Their Pioneer Block collection aims to celebrate the unique qualities of specific vineyard plots within their estate. And this limited-quantity Gewürztraminer does just that. It hails from one of Marlborough’s warmer areas, where a luxuriously long ripening period sees the grapes left on the vine well into autumn, increasing the intensity and ripeness of their flavours. The wine is also left in contact with the grape skins for a short period, giving it an intense and generous texture, with a hint of sweetness on the finish. Discover complex aromas of rosewater, citrus peel and warm spice that’ll pair perfectly with Asian spiced pork belly or Vietnamese spring rolls.
