Legendary producer Paul Jaboulet Aîné is one of the most famous names in wine – and for good reason. High up on the iconic hill of Hermitage, the house has had over 185 years of history as a leading producer making First Growth-rivalling wines. Renowned owner and head winemaker Caroline Frey earned her stripes in the cellars of top Champagne crus and prestigious Bordeaux châteaux. And for this organic wine, she balances freshness and complexity by vinifying and ageing 75% of the wine in concrete eggs and the rest in French oak. Her efforts clearly paid off – this great vintage was awarded 94 points by James Suckling. A blend of 90% Marsanne and 10% Roussanne, this has pronounced notes of jasmine, stone fruit, and almond with savoury mineral notes. Its structured body and intense flavours will pair beautifully with rich foods and even lightly spiced Asian dishes.
