Drill a few holes in the wood and sprinkle in this granular root remover. It’s completely harmless to your soil, in fact, it even acts like a fertiliser! After a few months (depending on the type of wood, girth and depths of roots) the stump simply decomposes. 500g. Made in Denmark.
