The Vavasour family’s roots in the Awatere Valley go back over 100 years. The region’s soils are rich with minerals left by ancient glacial activity, and in the 1980s, Peter and Anna Vavasour decided to start growing grapes and making wine there. The rest is history. Today, the winemaking is led by their son Louis, who has named his premium collection after the river that winds its way through the picturesque valley. This elegant Sauvignon is sustainably produced, and perfectly captures the finesse of the region’s wines. It has vibrant citrus, gooseberry and passionfruit flavours, with a refreshing minerality. Pair it with seafood, salads, or the richness of goat’s cheese.
