Today award-winning Beronia is one of the best-known names in Spanish viticulture, but the brand has humble origins. It was founded as recently as 1973, by a group of friends who were simply on a mission to make great wine. While the flagship winery is set in the world-famous Rioja region, a second winery solely dedicated to white grape Verdejo is based in the mineral-rich DO of Rueda. Winemaker Marian Santasmaria ensures that the temperatures inside are kept cool and consistent, ideal for handling the expressive Verdejo grapes. This bottling is made from a blend of two separate harvests to create a balance of fresh, citrusy notes as well as ripe exotic and stone fruit character. That diverse profile means it’s a perfect match for a range of different fish, light chicken and cheese dishes.
