Description
Bodegas Castaño come from humble beginnings. Ramón Castaño Santa started making his first wines in bulk in 1950, improving quality year by year until they were considered a benchmark in the Yecla region. His three children – Ramón, Juan Pedro and Daniel – all work in the business and have helped it to reach international acclaim. Monastrell isn’t often in the spotlight – but this wine shows you why it deserves to be. Savoury and full-bodied, with flavours of redcurrant, leather, pepper and dark chocolate, it’s calling out for food. Plenty of tannin means it’ll go well with red meat, particularly rich cuts of steak.
