Back in 1995 the Gabb family, originally from Shropshire in the UK, fell in love with a picturesque wine farm in South Africa. And it turned out that the terroir – nestled among the Schapenberg Hills on 350-million-year-old decomposed granite – was just as good as the fantastic views. Cooling south-easterly winds from nearby False Bay and the Atlantic Ocean, coupled with plenty of sunshine, ripen grapes to perfection. This blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Grenache has seen some oak ageing, resulting in vanilla, sweet spice and pepper notes. Juicy and full of vibrant, fruity flavours, it’s a versatile match for everything from burgers to stews.
