Wine has been produced in Mendoza since the 16th century – but the Catena family were the first to bring it into the global spotlight. With a winemaking history dating back to 1902, the family saw the potential for quality in Mendoza’s high altitude sites. And they’ve since led the way in developing Argentina’s reputation for premium wines. Now under the direction of Dr Laura Catena, the Catena winery has a range of wines produced from top sites across the country – with many of them receiving the highest critical acclaim. This is benchmark Malbec made by true masters. Medium bodied and elegant, it’s classically silky with rich notes of red and black fruit and hints of violets. Its soft tannins and pronounced flavours make it an ideal pairing for roast chicken with pancetta or classic Argentine barbecue.
