How do you choose just one example of Pouilly-Fumé, the famous Sauvignon Blanc wine? In our case it was easy – turn to Domaine André Figeat, a pro in the central Loire Valley, where terroir gives wines their hallmark gunflint character. One of the oldest families in the area, the Figeats have many years of tradition behind them but also employ modern winemaking methods to ensure they get the finest results possible. The next generation, Anne-Sophie, is being prepped to take over from her father André and has largely crafted this complex and rich wine showcasing grapefruit, confit lemon, stone fruit and smoke notes. Open it with fish, seafood and white meat dishes.
