Donnachadh Vineyard, a family-owned estate nestled in the Sta. Rita Hills wine region of Santa Barbara County, was established in 2013 by Drew and Laurie Duncan. They have 40 acres under vine, which benefit from the cool coastal climate, just 9 miles from the Pacific Ocean. The vineyard's location allows morning fog and afternoon ocean breezes to naturally regulate temperatures – ideal for growing Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Gamay. The Duncans’ Scottish heritage is honoured in the vineyard’s name, Donnachadh (pronounced Don-nuh-kuh) and the mythical creatures on their wine labels. This Chardonnay showcases the best of this region’s terroir, with a fresh acidity and delicate balance. Aromas of lemon and orange blossom meet subtle notes of crushed oyster shell and a touch of sea salt on the finish. This wine pairs beautifully with seafood and creamy cheeses, with its bright acidity cutting through richness.
