Rioja is easily Spain’s most famous wine region, although many people don’t realise it produces rosé. To get the best quality possible from his vineyard in the sub-region of Rioja Oriental, Fourth-generation producer Victor Manzanos has retrained his vines onto a new-style trellis, installed drip irrigation and built a new château-style winery with gravity-led winemaking methods. Rosé makes a brilliant match for food – particularly this clean and bright example with aromas of strawberry, vanilla, almond and cranberry. Made solely from the Garnacha grape, and lightly aged in oak barrels, it’s ready to stand up to everything from cold meats to creamy fish dishes.
