The Kremstal region of Austria is famous for one thing: Grüner Veltliner. Austria’s signature white grape variety grows across three distinct areas: by the historic city of Krems, in the Krems Valley, and in small villages south of the Danube. Much of the area is characterised by its deep loess terraces, which allow good root penetration and can help to regulate heat. This elegant Grüner Veltliner has lots going on. Full-bodied and spicy, concentrated and ripe – and with plentiful acidity and a long, mineral-tinged finish – it’s a dream with full-flavoured chicken dishes like Coq au Riesling.
