Description
Unlike well-known Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, which is made from the Montepulciano grape in east-central Italy, Nobile di Montepulciano is made in Tuscany with Sangiovese – known locally as Prugnolo Gentile. Tenuta Trerose’s plots occupy a variety of aspects and soils, from clay to sand and silt, across five different hillsides. Winemaker Andrea Lonardi is a Master of Wine, and he adds a tiny percentage of French varieties Merlot and Petit Verdot to give this bottling extra roundness. Aromas of red cherry, tobacco and cedar waft from the glass, segueing into flavours of blackberry, smoke and wood. High levels of acidity and tannin make it perfectly placed to pair with braised red meats.
