Château Talbot is steeped in history, named after Connétable John Talbot, a British soldier who perished in the Battle of Castillon in 1453. Since 1917, the Cordier family has nurtured this fourth-growth estate, transforming it into one of the Médoc’s most revered properties. Spanning 102 hectares of prime Saint-Julien vineyards, it is among the largest and most consistent estates in Bordeaux.. The 2018 vintage was characterised by a warm growing season, which produced intensely flavoured, concentrated grapes. Connétable Talbot, the château’s second wine, is crafted from 30-year-old vines and showcases a blend of 54% Merlot and 46% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine underwent vinification in stainless steel tanks and matured for 15 months in French oak barrels, with 15% new oak contributing subtle spice and structure.. TASTING NOTES. The 2018 Connétable Talbot is medium to full-bodied with an enticing nose of ripe blackcurrants, plums, and red cherries, accented by notes of tobacco leaf, cedar, and a touch of graphite.
