ABOUT THE WINE. Château Montviel, located in the heart of the prestigious Pomerol appellation, was acquired by the late Catherine Péré-Vergé in 1985. Known for her passion and dedication, she transformed the estate into one of exceptional quality. Her legacy lives on through meticulous winemaking led by renowned oenologists Michel Rolland and Marcelo Pelleriti, ensuring that every bottle reflects the depth of Pomerol’s terroir. Spanning 10.1 hectares, the vineyard boasts 30-year-old vines rooted in clayey gravel soil, with a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. La Rose Montviel is the estate’s second wine, offering an accessible yet refined expression of its prestigious origins.. TASTING NOTES. A vibrant bouquet of ripe cherries, juicy plums, and hints of raspberry jam, seamlessly intertwined with layers of oak, dark chocolate, and a touch of spice. The wine is medium-bodied, with a refreshing acidity that brings balance and vibrancy to its silky, rounded palate. The gentle tannins leave a refined, lingering finish.. FOOD PAIRING. Perfectly complements braised short ribs, lamb chops, or beef in a rich jus. For a more casual pairing, try it with a chargrilled beef burger topped with caramelized onions or Gruyère cheese. It also pairs well with truffle-infused pasta or a decadent cheese board featuring aged Comté or Brie.. FRIARWOOD SAYS. An exceptional second wine from Château Montviel, offering the finesse of Pomerol at a more approachable level. Enjoy its elegance now or cellar it for added depth over the next 5-7 years.. The 2020 Chateau Montviel, La Rose Montviel vintage is also available.
