ABOUT THE WINEThe 2021 Meerlust Estate Rubicon is the flagship wine from Meerlust Estate, one of South Africa’s most prestigious wineries located in the renowned Stellenbosch region. This Bordeaux-style red blend exemplifies the estate’s dedication to producing world-class wines. The 2021 vintage is a blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot. Each varietal was fermented separately before undergoing malolactic fermentation in 300-liter barrels and large foudres. After eight months, the components were blended and aged for an additional ten months in barrels to achieve harmony before bottling.. TASTING NOTESThe 2021 Rubicon displays a deep, youthful color with an intense, almost purple hue. The nose is quintessential Rubicon, offering aromas of violets, ripe plum, cedarwood, fennel, and intense spiciness, with typical liquorice notes also evident.
