ABOUT THE WINE. Stephane Vedeau took over the running of J. Boutin from his mother. The vines have to see Rhone to make good wines the local elders used to say, believing that the best terroirs are always close to the river where the vines survive on granite steep slopes. J. Boutin have an excellent location, one of the highest vineyards in Crozes-Hermitage, close to the river. Thanks to the granite soil and the altitude their wines develop a deeper complexity. There is no sulphite added and no clarification or filtration allowing the terroir to be fully expressed.. TASTING NOTESSmall wild blackberries, peppermint, and cocoa-infused graphite take turns on the nose with harmony. The palate is subtle and very smooth. It exhibits an immediate fluidity before giving way to its northern terroir, marked by natural freshness that reflects its minimally extracted natural energy. It's a charming yet vibrant Croze that is easy to enjoy while offering a touch of complexity based on the interplay of floral, fruit, and mineral components. This is a version of the appellation particularly well-suited for late spring, all summer, and the first part of autumn.. Discover all the wines from J. Boutin and Domaines Du Mont
