Oval flat (flat backed) Natural gemstone Hardness: 7 on the Mohs scale Healing properties: Encouragement, Creativity, Harmony Carnelian is a variety of Chalcedony from the Quartz family, identifiable by its translucent orange to red appearance. Carnelian can vary from semi opaque to highly translucent and can also include including specks, banding and striping. The warm reddish orange colour is caused by the presence of Iron Oxide. Carnelian has generally been known as the stone of motivation. Carnelian is excellent for stimulating creativity and promoting courage with its empowering energy. This oval flat carnelian measures 12mm x 10mm. Carnelian has a hardness of 7 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.58 – 2.64. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each oval is unique so pattern and banding will vary and slight natural inclusions are sometimes faintly visible. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place carnelian stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Carnelian can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing carnelian to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these Carnelian are sold individually.
