Lapis, Round Cabochon, 5mm

Description

Lapis is metamorphic stone made up of Calcite, Lazurite and Pyrite, easily identifiable by its intense deep blue colour and golden pyrite mottled patterns. Lapis can also contain cloudy white calcite inclusion flecks and can vary in colour from a rich royal blue to a deeper navy. Generally known as the stone of wisdom and truth, Lapis is excellent for enhancing understanding, and encouraging honesty. This round lapis cabochon measures 5mm. Lapis has a hardness of 5 – 5.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.8. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each cabochon is unique so colours and patterns will vary and natural inclusions are visible. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place lapis stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Lapis can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing lapis to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these lapis are sold individually.
