Topaz is a silicate mineral, that through irradiation and heat treatment processes, displays various shades of blue. London blue topaz is easily distinguishable by its medium to deep inky blue tones and clear clarity. The birthstone for november, topaz has generally been known as a stone of love and good fortune and is excellent for bringing joy, courage and wisdom. This oval topaz cabochon measures 6mm x 4mm. Topaz has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 3.53 to 3.57. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, each stone is unique so colours will vary and natural inclusions and zoning may be present. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place topaz stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Topaz can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing topaz to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these topaz are sold individually.
