Oval Cabochon (flat backed) Natural gemstone Hardness: 6.5 – 7 on the Mohs scale Healing properties: Nurturing, New Beginnings Moss Agate is a variety of Chalcedony from the Quartz family, easily identifiable by its green, dendritic (tree-like) inclusions which give the stone the appearance of moss. Moss Agate is most often a translucent, milky white colour with filament shaped inclusions of deep green but can sometimes include spots of red or deep bluish inclusions. Moss Agate has generally been known as the stone of agriculture. Agate is excellent for balancing emotional, physical and intellectual energy whilst moss agate symbolises new beginnings. This oval moss agate cabochon measures 8mm x 6mm. Agate has a hardness of 6.5-7 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.6. Please note that due to the nature of the stone, colours can vary from solid green tones through to translucent milky whites with moss markings. Natural inclusions are also sometimes faintly visible. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place agate stones in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Moss agate can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing agate to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these moss agates are sold individually.
