Mother of Pearl is an organic shell material, also known as `nacre`, characterised by its pearl like iridescent surface. Mother of Pearl has generally been known as a stone of protection, excellent for its healing properties and protection from negative energy. This carved mother of pearl infinity symbol measures approximately 22mm long by 8.5mm wide and 2.4mm thick at its thickest point. Mother of Pearl has a hardness of 2.5 – 4.5 on the Mohs scale and a specific gravity of 2.65 – 2.87. Please note that due to the nature of the material, each carving is unique so colour, shape and iridescent patterns may vary slightly. Care: As with all gemstones, care must be taken. It is not advised to place mother of pearl in an ultrasonic, steam cleaner or chemical cleaning solution. Mother of pearl can be easily cleaned with a warm soapy water mix or an untreated cloth. It is advised to avoid exposing mother of pearl to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected and these mother of pearl are sold individually.
