Varying from transparent to fully opaque in clarity, rubies can often contain needle like inclusions, and are usually heat treated to improve the overall colour and clarity of the stone. The birthstone for july, ruby has generally been known as the stone of passion and protection and is excellent for balancing emotions and encouraging courage and motivation. It is advised to avoid exposing ruby to prolonged periods of heat and light. A slight tolerance of +/- 0.25mm should be expected with these stones and these rubies are sold in packs of 12.
