Description
Founded in 1890 in Logroño, Bodegas Franco-Españolas is a historic winery known for its rich heritage and quality. The winery was started by Frederick Anglade Saurat during the Phylloxera epidemic, where many other wineries were closing their doors, and now boasts a legacy that includes notable events like the crowning of King Juan Carlos I. Emma Villajos, an esteemed winemaker with over 20 years of experience, leads the production, crafting wines that consistently receive top international awards. The grapes are sourced from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta, and the finished wine undergoes meticulous ageing in French and American oak barrels before release. This blend is rich and full-bodied with notes of ripe, dark fruit, tobacco, chocolate and spice. It’s a versatile wine that pairs beautifully with roasted meats, hearty stews, or mature cheeses.
