If you’re a fan of Marlborough Sauvignon, you partly have Kevin Judd to thank. The owner of Greywacke helped to make this style famous when he was the winemaker at world-renowned Cloudy Bay. Since he launched his own label, in 2009, Kevin’s focus has been on making boutique wines in Marlborough’s Omaka Valley. This fragrant, off-dry Riesling is one of them. It’s delicate and perfumed, with aromas of lime flowers and white peach, flavours of anise and gunflint, and a slight sweetness. Sip it with oysters, fresh crab or zingy Asian dishes such as Vietnamese lemongrass chicken.
