With an inky purple colour and a tantalising, tangy loganberry aroma, this is showing the beginnings of that glorious, soaring perfume that makes Syrah so irresistible when produced under absolutely perfect conditions. It has compelling complexity: clove and Stargazer lily top notes, juicy red fruit in the middle and rich, beefy savour underneath. On the palate: fabulously intense loganberry and redcurrant fruit, zesty acidity and beautifully refined, supple tannins. Supremely elegant, this has the balance to be cellared, but it’s going to be awfully hard to resist drinking it immediately.
